I ran
around Johnston today. It was quite
fun. Very little traffic. The streets had strips of bare concrete,
without snow and ice; that’s where I ran without danger of slipping. Everyone was home sleeping or watching football
so the cars were few and far between.
They also wanted to drive in the bare strips, so I relented and moved
over a bit, letting them go where they want.
Cold, yes,
but not unbearable. My hands were the
worst. When I run today, I will have to
get some more insulation—whether it be another pair of gloves, or maybe some
socks. I wore socks last year in Moscow,
but I don’t think they helped much. Yesterday,
luckily, I had a neck gator—a piece of fabric that comes down over the head and
circles the neck. When my lips and face
were freezing, I pulled that up and all was well. Not quite ALL I guess, because with such an
arrangement, my breath was forced UP and fogged my glasses. No huge problem in the end.
In the Philadelphia pool. We swam in the evening, went to the Ruby Tuesdays across the street, back to the pool, back to the restaurant. Isn't it great to do as you wish? I didn't take any pictures. In the morning, I called the front desk and asked to open up the pool early--we got out suits on and staged some pictures.
. It was great.
