Oh my!  How exciting!  After my last blah, blah about runners putting an extra push into their efforts, I did it.  I consciously pushed all the way around the loop and I finished nearly 2 seconds faster than my previous best.  When I finished, I has a feeling that I had run pretty fast.

Oh, man! What a let down!  .04 seconds slower than my goal. About 30 meters from the end, I consciously put more effort into my stride. If I'd have done that 50 meters from the finish, or even 40 meters, what would have been the result?  And what about 100 meters? Or at the start of the sprint?

During the final sprint, I had to swerve around a car that was baking out and nearly had the whole lane blocked.  There was a dude and his wheel barrel with leaves in it waiting, so I had to swerve around him, too.

The big news today, of course, is the new record for the inside loop final sprint.  I was thinking earlier that I may have made a mistake when I achieved 1:14.87 way back in March, not long after I moved in.  Now I have successfully broken that record.

I did an hour-long bike ride today.  Fabulous!  I was finding the way to a friend’s house nearby.  I had a great time using my map and the phone’s GPS, trying not to get lost.  I succeeded.

I ran along a river nearby.  I didn’t do any sprints because I want to give my legs and all some more healing.
99% of the time I’m running, I’m listening to something on my iPod.  Sometimes, I think that I am missing out on nature.  Today, while listening to Sarah Jones give a TED talk that sounds more like a stand-up routine.

a hike and a bicycle

So on the 29th, I went out for about 20 minutes.  No sprint or climb the stairs.  I am being very generous with my knee.  There is a small amount of pain, so I am letting it rest.

On the 30th, I planned to run to the American Embassy.  I started, but it was sprinkling ever so slightly.  The forecast all morning was for 0% chance of showers, but earlier, it had rained significantly. Therefore, I didn’t want to take any chances.
