On
this day, I ran to the Ridge—the home of the American ambassador and many American
Embassy employees. The boys and I are proud owners of a membership there. I
swam a bit and then ran home. I didn’t do any pull-ups, push-ups or
sprints. My shoulders are super tight,
as if they are swelled up beyond belief. The leg-only-back-stroke result floored me (if that is possible while swimming). I guess the fluttering of the legs was working well.
Oh! Swimming is such a wonderful exercise. The luxuriousness and smooth joy of simple existence in the pool cannot be adequately described by the English language.
When I returned to the apartment and “ran” up the four flights, I felt like my legs were logs. I suppose I need some rest.

This is the day my
friend, Bill, came into town from Moscow. At the airport, I bumped into a lady
who was supposed to have been met by a travel agent. We had an extra seat in the
car so we gave her a ride to her hotel, which amazingly was located about a
2-minutes-walk from my apartment. She ended up going with us to the new school,
to my new apartment, to my old apartment, to Bohemian Burger (see below), and around
town. It was a lovely serendipitous meeting.
Bill and I and the boys
are traveling to the south of Albania today.
Hopefully the weather forecast—which calls for sunny weather after today—is
correct.
