During
the final sprint, I had to swerve around a car that was baking out and nearly
had the whole lane blocked. There was a
dude and his wheel barrel with leaves in it waiting, so I had to swerve around
him, too.
That maneuver was worth at least half a second. Due in some part to this detour, the loop was 1.45 seconds longer than my record. 1.45 seconds…imagine that—count to two--already done. I looked at my watch, and if felt like a great let down. But it was so short! Really! When you are running at the top of your physical ability seconds are a lifetime.
