So I guess the pain in the arm
when doing pull-ups may be receding. Yesterday, I did 5 sets of 4 pull-ups when
I ran in the park. I’m going to ease
back into it. I have another problem in
the fact that I have some mysterious infection in my left little toe. I went to
the doctor on Thursday—she said we couldn’t be sure that it was not simple
trauma—maybe I stubbed it on something.
I didn’t remember anything, but I still wasn’t sure if it was getting worse. I’m always in favor of NOT doing anything.
I left with the understanding, not complicated, that an infection would get worse, an injury would get better.

Two
days later, I went back to the doctor—it was worse. It was a different doctor who said that I
should soak it in warm salt water several times a day (just like the first
doctor had said). If it doesn’t get better, she gave me some antibiotic pills
that I could use. My colleague from Wyoming says that garlic is the magical
cure for EVERYTHING. She said her mother even cured herself of appendicitis with
garlic. So…I’m adding garlic to the
water, too. We’ll see…this morning, it
hurt like crazy, but now, it’s not bad.
Even
though the toe was hurting, it was not so bad that I couldn’t put it into my
running shoes, where—with the new inserts—there is not much wiggle room, and
jog. I think because when I’m running I am not spending a great deal of time
with the foot in contact with the ground, it doesn’t hurt much. At any rate, I’m
able to run nearly normally.
All
the same though, I didn’t want to run on it today--especially when I have the
opportunity to go swimming. I did. I timed
myself doing a couple things--one lap crawl and one lap doing the breaststroke. I anticipate that I will be doing quite a bit
of swimming soon.
On
the way home from the pool, I thought I saw Oskar walking up the other side of the
street. Then I looked up and there was Maxim. I did…I did taw a puddy tat! [http://wn.com/i_taut_i_taw_a_puddy_tat 1:03
Tweety Bird]
So
I turned around and accompanied the boys to the pool once again. It was a great time because I had already
done my exercising, so we simply played around.
