This was a night, or late evening, run through the park.
Whatever it was, the park was dark and it was not overpopulated. As I began, my thighs were not stressing me
too much, but my knees were painful. Now
this is a new soreness, so I wasn’t too worried. It was just temporary.
Once I got the top of the hill, though, the
knees were still hurting, so I started to walk. I wanted to keep moving so the
muscles didn’t forget how to move, of course.
After some minutes, I turned around. I hadn’t covered the distance I usually
cover, but I didn’t want to truly hurt the knees if there was something. I was
thinking that the reason for the pain was that I was running on the yellow
brick road instead of the paths along the side like usual. The paths were
completely dark—a recipe for missteps and turned ankles. The hardness of the
running surface was probably the reason my knees were owly-growly.
On the way back when began the decent, I started running
again. I came to the classic sprint, and
I started. I can’t say that I showed a burst of speed, but I was going a bit
faster. My legs were not as tight as
they have been in the past—a wonderful development. I was timidly running for
the most part because I didn’t want to pull something that had been dormant for
several weeks. I was running and pushing my body to be sure.
The results were certainly a fabulous event. Sub 60 seconds with stable effort. My shoulder, of course, is still quite
painful. But during this run, I didn’t
even know it was there.
