Russian museum

Words    ;   pics
A fantastically beautiful day for a run!  Great temperature, few insects, lovely area, no rush.  At one point, my legs were getting sore, but I ran through this time and all was well.  Another lovely part of the run was Wait, Wait—it was a terrific episode with Tom B. in full funny force. I love his dry humor.

Yesterday, I spent 5 hours in two building of the Russian Museum.  It’s not just a museum in Russia; it is called the “Russian Museum”.  I’ve been here a couple times before and spent several hours each time. This is not a place that I can go to WITH someone.  If I’m with someone, I will be rushed, and I won’t feel like I get to learn as much as I can.  I’m not sure how I will feel when I come here with the boys next year.  One good thing is the audio guide—it is an electronic speaker that will explain everything to us as we are walking around.  We punch in the number of the painting or sculpture and hear commentary about that specific item.  I think the human excursion leaders will out of a job soon.

Ivan Aivazovsky is my favorite Russian artist

I love these pictures of the cats.  I particularly like the wooden figures of  mice hauling a cat to the grave yard as they   succeed in conquering their tormentor.

The overlord  condemning a young mother to the gallows as her children hang on tightly.

Maniacal crazy guys calling for her head.
