A
simple run tonight. I thought I was
going well enough for a record during the mid-run sprint, but I missed it by
more than a second. I’m sure it was
because of the many dogs that were chatting with each other as their owners
sniffed around the trees.
One little guy even took off after me. The problem is that although I can consciously think about throwing my arms forward and my putting maximum effort into my legs, I can’t keep focused on this activity for a whole minute—I am bound to get distracted. I can surely see how sprinters can do it for the 10 seconds it takes to run the 100-meter dash, but it is the 400 and 800-meter people that I marvel at. They must keep their brains focused on moving the body parts at a maximum for a long time.
