          The stairway was cleaned up today.  I see this and I think about the diffusion of responsibility in society.  Why do some people believe that it is someone else’s job to clean up after them?  If people would simply NOT throw leave bottles and cans and garbage in the stairway (or on the street) no one would need to be paid to clean up.

          The 16 floors was a tough one today.  I shaved more than a minute off the baseline time of two days ago.  At the end my legs were rubbery, and my respiration was elevated (I was out of breath) for 5 minutes.  The slow walk down that 10 flights from the top to our floor was a time of blissful pain.
