bad luck--touched by a car

Another good run today.  Started a bit slow and grumpy.  It was great to be out because it has rained steadily for 5 days.  This morning   I was touched by another dog.  This was another dog to which I paid no attention.  I don’t think he warranted attention because he was only about a foot tall
and 15 inches long.  He also wore one of those plastic “loud speaker” collars that dogs wear so they don’t mess up an injury or cast or something on their body.  He was friendly, too.

The other day, though, I was touched by something quite significant.  I was walking down the street when something touched my hand.  I had a second to wonder what it was before I saw that it was a car!  I planned some colorful accusations to hurl at this dude until I looked at the torn up sidewalk, and realized that we were walking in the street.  They do a lot of construction around here—from streets to buildings to water pipes.

One day, I saw a unique situation in Russian construction.  There was a crane about 30 feet in the air—as high as a two-story window.  The crane engine was on one side of a walkway, and the working end of the crane was on the other.  Imagine what might be in the air that could fall from such a crane!  And the old wive's tale says that walking under a ladder is bad luck.
