Yesterday,
the 17th, I finished the long downhill just .05 seconds slower than my all-time
record from October of last year. I wasn’t
expecting such a result. When I began
the run, I was feeling groggy and uninspired.
I ran the uphill quite slowly, finishing in 1:07—I’ve done 1:03 in the past. I finished with a respectable 19.85 for the 5
flights, .06 seconds off the record pace.
The
rest of the day was interesting as the boys and I were able to make some fresh
orange and fresh apple juice with the juice machine I brought back from
Moscow. I am quite unhappy about the
amount of waste in this operation. It’s
not that the juice-making operation creates dramatically MORE waste than consumption
of fruit by other methods; it’s just that making the juice creates the waste
all at once. I wish I were living on the
farm where I could compost easily.
