More than ½ second
faster on the classic sprint today! Breaking these records quite exhilarating
and fun—even if they are not true records.
It gives me a sense of accomplishment that I have done something significant.
Maybe I should do this every other year or so—become injured, so I have to recover. Then I can document the pace and simply the very existence of improvement.

I did some running
AND walking today because the ground was totally wet and muddy. Therefore, I
was running on the yellow brick road all the time, and that is damaging to the
knees. Hard surfaces are not good for our joints.
Last weekend, I forced the boys to go on a walk with me.
Maxim claimed that the hard packed dirt was just as hard as the concrete. I
tried to make him understand that it was not. The prime idea that I used as
evidence was that if you take your finger, you can dent the dirt somewhat—especially
after a rain. Even dirt that is
absolutely dry and “hard as a rock” can be dug up with a shovel; something that
cannot be done when working with concrete.
