New Apartment--Leg ups

248 words, one picture
My first run from the new apartment.  I arrived at Bolshoi Cherkizovsky at exactly the right moment to cross a 6-lane street in the middle of a green light.  That’s my new street address: Bolshoi Cherkizovsky—some reading this might recognize Bolshoi as the name of the famous dance theater in Moscow.
What does Bolshoi mean?  Big.  So the most famous theater in Russia is named the Big Theater.  It’s similar to the name of the reservoir in the mountains that supplies water to Almaty.  The name is a typically descriptive hold-over from the hyperbolically-challenged Soviet Union:  Big Almaty Lake.
The sprint came at the end of this run.  I ran from one bus stop for about a minute, the next bus stop came into sight so I stopped there.
Someone also might notice that I have a column above titled, ‘leg ups.”  This is an exercise for the stomach-abdomen.  On the path/route to the street is one of the many playgrounds.  There is such an exercise construction where I can maneuver myself so that I look and feel like I am some cheesy sci. fi. hero wearing an individual rocket pack on my back with my hands straight out.  While in this position, I pull my legs up so that they are a bit higher than parallel with the ground, and then let them back down.

Here is an artist’s representation of the move:

It looks deceptively simple, but it’s actually quite strenuous—esp. after 15 repetitions.
