A fine run
today. I didn’t feel like I was going
really fast, but I was going faster than all of the other people out
there. An amazing amount of people,
actually. The whole park was full at 6
a.m.
It turns
out that Maura sent me a notification about the flight time change in April. I
just absent-mindedly didn’t take note of it.
I’m usually quite conscientious about such things. Thankfully everything worked out in the
end. Our bags were delivered this
morning.
One weird
thing about the US is the way in which we write the time. It’s ridiculous that we write tickets where
the time might be confused. A friend
from New Zealand picked us up at the airport in Tirana and told a story. She was in Boston this summer and looked at
her ticket the night before leaving. “21:15”
she read. “Oh, great,” she thought, “I
have until 9:15 in the evening to look around the town.”
The next
day when she looked again, she saw that it was not “21:15” but “2:15”. So she had less time, but she did everything
right in that she double checked and had plenty of time. BUT…if the ticket had been written using the
24-hour clock, she may not have had a problem.
Think of the money that could be saved in ink if the “a.m.” and “p.m.”
didn’t have to be written all the time.
