I wrote about the run on the day we left the US when I was
pushing the pace all the time. Well,
today, I was back to mechanically moving my legs. Not a terrible thing, but I need to get
moving. I found a 4-week training
schedule for a marathon. I will begin
this regime this weekend—conveniently 4 weeks before the Moscow Marathon.
Runs will be 10 miles, and 8 miles, 5 miles,
etc. with the longest at 18 miles. I
hope I will have the time to do it—I’m not worried about the physical
demands. I am worried about eating
enough.
The great
thing about being back in Albania is that I know where to go. I ran through the park and around some
neighborhoods this morning. Albanians
are trying to be healthy. There have
always been a heap of people walking all over the place in the mornings, but THIS
morning, I came across a new addition to the park—a bunch of exercise
machines. It looked like a bunch of ants
crowded around the anthill. Every
machine was in use.
I have some
poison ivy problems and I truly lost
my hydrocortisone at the point in the rush through security when I thought I lost my iPod. I asked for hydrocortisone at a
pharmacy. Stupidly, I showed him my 1000
lek bill. When I asked how much, he did
some figuring and came up with 999 lek. What a coincidence. Maybe I shouldn't
assume that everyone is out to get me.
