fresh air, rainbow bandana

Words 311
Perfect weather today for running.  My program called for 10 slow miles today.  At the 6.5 mile mark, my legs started to hurt.  A person can see from the mile split times below that,  just like yesterday,  I didn’t slow down much at that point. But it was enough pain to take note of it.

I’m thinking that my legs may have been hurting because I was not giving them a chance to be free.  I was holding back from the loping gait that is comfortable.  During the 9th mile, I slowed way down—I even stopped for a second to take a picture of myself.  When the 10th mile began, I “let my stride out a little bit” (as Bill Cosby said during one of his comedy routines).   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tslhul73z-0&list=PLQFhfRpU2O7QP94TQpMlZfGgrWzwTkLr3&index=6
(at 6:40 of this recording, he uses this phrase).
I felt comfortable running quicker—there was still some pain, but not serious.

I love running and I love greeting people.  About half return my greeting—always with a smile.  The other half either ignores me, or my greeting is something so unexpected that they do not recognize it.  They might think I have having some kind of American seizure.  I’m sure they recognized me as a foreigner because I wore a rainbow shirt and a rainbow bandana.  I’ve just begun wearing a bandana to soak up the sweat.  It’s a great addition.

You can see the Russian White house on the left in the background, and one of the 7 sisters on the right.  The seven sisters are seven huge buildings around Moscow that were built by Stalin.  They are basically square with structures  that shoot up in sort of a pyramid.  On the far right are modern-type buildings.  I’m not sure why my mouth is open.
