breaking the squat bar

Words 131
Back to the deep freeze today.  -17 is about 2 Fahrenheit.  I started the sprint slowly, feeling unmotivated and a bit sore.  It’s remarkable how much thinking I can do during the 63 seconds.  I thought, “OK, well, the beginning was not great…maybe I will finish strong and be pleasantly surprised.”  Then,
“Yes, pour it on now, break that record!”  It’s hard to get the body to move.  Anyway, a result of 1:03 is certainly nothing to feel bad about.  Look at me—a couple months ago, a sub 1:05 result was the goal.
Sprinting up the 6 floors—well, I had to fiddle with my long-sleeved shirt which added at least half a second.
One extra exercise today was the effort I needed to expend breaking the squat bar loose.

Here are highlights from one Moscow Times newspaper:

This is a huge diamond mine.  Notice the buildings around the bottom left to see the scale. In the background, you can see apartment buildings in the town nearby.
