Today
was is the first day all winter that I have allowed the weather to keep me from
running outside. It’s been snowing
nearly constantly for 36 hours. One of
my students said this is the most snow that Moscow has received in March for
over 100 years. Sounds a little inflammatory, but there
is surely a heap of
snow out there.
I
see that Iowa is pretty cold—right at freezing in Emmetsburg right now. I remember last year at this time, it was 70
degrees (21 C).
I
ran up and down the stairs today.
Because I work early in the mornings three days a week, I HAVE to run or
something on the other days. Tomorrow,
my first class starts at 8:00, 45 minutes away.
I climbed 100 flights; at 10 steps per flight, that’s 1000 steps. I finished with a 6-flight sprint at a pace
of 19.71 seconds. That’s 3 tenths of a
second slower than my fastest. While
running, though, I felt great—like I was really flying.
This weekend, I met a guy from Storm Lake. Tomorrow, I am going to meet an old friend who I knew in Baku 15 years ago. Should be fun.
