Russian winter wonderland

Words 169, 7 pics

I did one set of pull-ups today because I thought it would help me get finished faster.  Then I realized that pull-ups don’t take much time, I think it is a psychological issue.  It is truly amazing how LONG one-minute seems when you are running as fast as you can.

This weekend, my flatmate, Ira, and I went to Pokrov—two hours by train from Moscow.  I went to visit, Misha, a man I met 4 years ago in St. Petersburg.  It was a totally excellent weekend.  His family is large, hospitable, and unpretentious.  There were heaps of little kids all over.  We felt comfortable—like we were with our own family.

Dad said one of his strongest impressions of Russia was formed by the film, Dr. Zhivago, during a scene with empty landscape and endless, deep snow.   I took some pictures of snow to the horizon, but they were not in focus.  He also asked about the houses.  I had taken some pictures of houses—see them below:

Sima, Misha's sister, Misha, Ira, James in front of Sima's house. I'm standing on a snow bank so it looks like I am as tall as Misha. He's actually about a foot taller.

The top cat is Tima, my cat in Moscow.  The bottom cat is Francesca, who lives in Pokrov.
